10 Honeycomb Optimized Apss

With new Android Honeycomb tablets now available (or soon to be released) from Motorola, Toshiba, Acer, ASUS, LG, Sony and Cisco, Android app developers are starting to release more apps optimized for the Honeycomb tablet experience.
The iPad continues to dominate the app marketplace with over 65,000 tablet optimized apps but with so many hardware manufacturers releasing Honeycomb tablets, it's just a matter of time until Honeycomb's app selection starts to catch up.
At the release of Android Honeycomb 3.0 in February 2011, there were less than 50 apps available but now that number is well into the hundreds. Here are our picks for the best new Honeycomb apps.

May 2011: The Best New Honeycomb Apps Released

1. News360
A real-time daily news feed that is fully optimized for the Honeycomb tablet experience. It uses your tablet's built-in GPS to discover local stories and the interface makes easy to discover new content related to your interests in areas like politics, technology, sports and world news. You can also customize which news sources and what type of content you want to receive in your daily News360 feed. Free.
2. Qello For Tablet
This app, pronounced "kwello", claims to have the largest library of HD concert videos available anywhere. It is optimized for Honeycomb tablets and lets you watch live concerts from hundreds of top artists like Eminem, The Rolling Stones, Kings of Leon and Coldplay. You can watch 3 minutes of each concert and then you can rent a full concert for $5 (which includes unlimited access to that concert for a month).
3. RipTide GP
Described by the developer as a "Xbox 360-class game", RipTide GP takes full advantage of the advanced Tegra 2 hardware that most Honeycomb tablets use. It is a racing game where you race on rivers, canals and other liquid environments. If you want a game to show off the graphic capabilities of your new honeycomb tablet, then this app is worth buying. $6.99
4. TweetCaster
The most popular option for accessing Twitter on Android Honeycomb tablets. The killer feature in this app is "Zip-It", which allows you to filter your timeline to block tweets by keyword or only look at tweets containing photos, links or videos. I find this to be the most useful new Honeycomb app for Twitter. Free.
5. TweetComb
This is another Twitter app that is optimized for Honeycomb. If you used TweetDeck before, you'll find a familiar interface. You basically create columns across the screen for your twitter lists, streams, searches and messages. A great all-round Twitter app. Free.
6. Pinball HD
Everybody loves pinball! This addictive Pinball game comes with three incredibly realistic pinball tables that are completely optimized for your Android tablet's Nvidia's Tegra 2 graphics chip (download their useful app to get all the latest Android Honeycomb games). $2.99
7. SwiftKey
The biggest problem with the tablet-experience is that typing is difficult. SwiftKey tries to solve this problem by letting you use voice commands and use custom keyboards that allow you type faster and more efficiently on your Honeycomb tablet. It is currently available for beta testing, but if you're annoyed by the keyboard on your tablet, it's worth trying out. To see how it works, watch this demo video.
8. Angry Birds Rio
No app collection is complete without a copy of Angry Birds. The latest Angry Birds Rio has all the familiar Angry Birds' fun and it is now fully optimized for Android Honeycomb tablets. Free.
9. CNN for tablets
The new CNN app for Honeycomb gives you latest news and live streaming video in an experience customized for Android tablets. It also includes CNN iReport, which allows you to submit your own stories through the app. Now anyone with a little bit of talent can write for CNN. Free.
10. Vendetta Online
A new Honeycomb optimized version is now available for this graphically intense multiplayer MMORPG game set. In this game, you play the role of spaceship pilots in a massive online galaxy. You trade and fight with other players in order to expand your empire. This new Honeycomb app is free but the subscription-based game cost between $7-$10 per month. A free trial is available to try it out.
There you have it. We're going to be updating the list so check back for more of the best new Honeycomb apps in the near future.
